Victoria Prentis Unsung Hero certificate
Adam Coggins. Adam was nominated for helping a number of neighbours who were shielding by doing their food shopping and talking to those who were lonely on the phone, all while working 6 days a week.
Pat and Jenny Lethbridge. Pat, an army reservist, was nominated for volunteering for duty in March ahead of the reservist call. Jenny, a nurse in a care home, was nominated for her efforts as a key worker and extra work at Bicester Hospital.
Lennon Kingsnorth. Lennon was nominated for helping the elderly and keeping spirits up during coronavirus.

2020 has been a difficult year for us all, especially those who have really struggled with regular daily activities such as food shopping, going to work, and travelling to hospital appointments. Simple pleasures like meeting friends and family have not been easy; I have been extremely worried about those living alone who have been without regular social contact for so long. Through adversity comes strength: we have seen the best in our local communities, with neighbours going out of their way to help others.

I wanted to make sure that the hard work of so many did not go unnoticed which is why, earlier this summer, I launched my “Unsung Heroes of North Oxfordshire” campaign. So far, over 30 people have received a certificate, for a whole range of reasons. From food production and delivery, to prescription pickups, to making masks and laundry bags for NHS workers, to car services to help people get to appointments safely, and much more, everyone who has gone out of their way to help others during this time is worthy of recognition and praise.

I asked people to send in a picture of them with their certificates when they received them, a few of which can be found below. It goes without saying, that if you believe someone deserves an Unsung Hero certificate, please get in touch by emailing victoria.prentis.mp@parliament.uk with their name and address.
