Withdrawal of the 1-WA17 School Bus Service

Letter

I share parents’ disappointment with Oxfordshire County Council’s unexpected decision to withdraw the 1-WA17 school bus service at the end of the summer term.

Many children living in Middle Barton, The Astons and Duns Tew rely on this vital service to attend The Warriner School in Bloxham. Parents are understandably dismayed with the decision and are worried that they will need to reduce work hours or change to roles which would allow them the time to drive their children to and from school. The decision is contrary to the Council’s own environmental ambitions, and the promise to reduce car journeys by 1-in-4 this decade.

Sadly, this is not a one-off occurrence as I’m aware that other routes may also be affected.

I feel strongly that this decision needs to be reconsidered and have written directly to the Chief Executive sharing my objections. You can read my full letter below.
